I want to stimulate local economy, improve our education system, and keep Cincinnati wonderful! As a small-business owner, I am familiar with the trials and tribulations young entrepreneurs face, and I want Cincinnati to be a place which fosters economic growth and booming businesses. Keep checking in here to see more information about the issues that I deeply care about for the Queen City!
LIST OF ISSUES
Education
Homelessness
There is a disproportionate amount of young homeless people in Cincinnati--mainly ages 18-25. By catering homeless shelters to this age group, we can nip homelessness and opioid addiction in the bud. Furthermore, solving issues of opioid and gentrification will reduce homelessness.
Incentives for teachers to come to Cincinnati and stay in Cincinnati can help cure our teacher shortage. With a focus on public education, Abbott hopes to make Cincinnati a teacher hot spot without raising taxes, as teachers here already have some of the highest salaries in the United States. Creating a better teaching environment is what will make educators drawn to our city!
Gentrification
Opioid Epidemic
Cincinnati has one of the highest fatality rates from opioid in Ohio, but gets the same amount of state funding as every other city. Abbott wants to get more funding from the state in order to educate people on drug addiction and provide relief to those currently afflicted.
Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine is one of the most gentrified places in the United States. Abbott wants to support small businesses and local entrepreneurs while avoiding the homelessness and displacement that come from gentrification. By offering tax breaks to developers building affordable housing rather than luxury housing or donating a percentage of their profits to affordable housing units, Cincinnati can promote development without kicking groups of people out.
